BURNERS

Triaso® 'Total Air' Burners are designed for complete and efficient fuel combustion, using a fully sealed system that doesn’t rely on the drum’s exhaust. This avoids pollution, mix contamination, and filter clogging—while saving fuel and maintaining consistent performance throughout the day. Their precise air control system ensures clean operation, low emissions, and reliable results in any climate.

Low Nox emissions

Low NOx emissions (nitrogen oxides), are achieved, minimizing the release of this greenhouse gas, which is strictly regulated in many regions, mainly in urban areas. The system can be equipped with a flame protection module that further reduces NOx levels, reaching near-zero emissions.
By achieving total combustion, several issues are avoided:

  • Atmospheric pollution.
  • Contamination of the asphalt mix with unburned fuel.
  • Baghouse clogging and an increased fire risk.

100% regulated air

The burner regulates 100% of the air for combustion without relying on the drum's exhaust system. This ensures complete combustion and 100% fuel utilization.

  • A sealed installation prevents cold air from entering, that would otherwise be used to heat it and allowing precise, efficient combustion.
  • Efficiency remains stable regardless of temperature changes throughout the day.

Our latest burner innovation features an oxygen sensor that automatically regulates excess oxygen to no more than 3%, eliminating the need for manual fuel carburization adjustment when relocating the equipment. Thanks to our self-carburizing system, NOx levels remain even lower.

Choose the Fuel, We'll Handle the Performance

We understand the importance of fuel versatility for efficient operation. Our burners are designed to support multiple fuel types, giving you the flexibility to select the option that best suits your process.

No Extra Air, No Extra Fuel

By controlling all combustion air internally, Triaso® burners eliminate the need for secondary air from the drum or chimney. This reduces heat loss, saves fuel, and improves overall plant efficiency—every drop of fuel is put to work.

Stable Operation in Any Condition

Unlike traditional systems, Triaso® burners maintain consistent combustion regardless of altitude, weather, or time of day. From startup to shutdown, efficiency remains high and steady.

Total Air Technology – Clean
Combustion with Any Fuel

The integrated preheater liquefies any fuel, ensuring perfect atomization and clean combustion—no smoke, no residue, no wasted fuel. It allows the use of any fuel type while maintaining optimal performance at all times.

Total Air Technology: Guaranteed Complete Combustion

Triaso® burners supply 100% of the air needed for combustion through their own blower, without relying on the drum’s exhaust. This ensures efficient fuel burning, avoids cold air entry, and delivers a clean, uncontaminated asphalt mix.

No Smoke. No Residue. No Early Failure.

Poorly designed burners leave unburned particles, smoke, and heat inefficiencies that damage both your mix and your equipment. Triaso® eliminates these issues with advanced combustion control.

Burn Low-Cost Fuel Without Waste

Even with heavy or low-grade fuels, Triaso® burners ensure proper atomization and complete combustion. The built-in preheater lowers fuel viscosity, preventing unburned droplets, reducing pollution and operating costs.

What Are the Differences Between ‘Partial Air’ and ‘Total Air’ Burners?

Key advantages that make ‘Total Air Burners’ more efficient and environmentally friendly than ‘Partial Air Burners’

Partial Air Burners

These burners provide only 30% to 45% of the necessary combustion air (called primary air) through the blower.

The remaining air (secondary air) is drawn in by the chimney's suction system, entering freely through openings in the drum's front shield.

Because this secondary air is not preheated or regulated, a larger volume must be heated, leading to higher fuel consumption.

Total Air Burners

These burners supply 100% of the air required for combustion through their own blower, in a controlled manner.

As a result, no additional air entries are needed in the drum, and the air volume is precisely calculated for combustion needs.

Since all the air entering the drum is regulated by the burner, it ensures an efficient carburetion process that makes use of 100% of the fuel.

Total air burners are typically only offered by top-tier brands due to their advanced technology and high cost. However, since 2014, Triaso includes total air burners in all drum mixer as standard equipment with no extra charge.

Burner Feature: Fixed Power

Reducing burner power becomes necessary when production at the asphalt plant must be slowed — whether due to truck delays, slow paving, or other causes.

These are preset at the factory to operate efficiently only between 90% and 100% of their rated capacity.

  • Below 90%, they are inefficient.

The reason: When the burner’s power is reduced, the fuel pressure also drops, causing poor atomization. This leads to the formation of microdroplets that do not combust properly.

Burner with Fixed Power below 90% power

Problems Caused by Fixed Power Burners

The inefficiency of fixed power burners leads to several serious issues:

  • Unburned microdroplets result in a significant waste of fuel.
  • The asphalt mix becomes contaminated with unburned fuel.
  • This contamination causes the asphalt pavement to deteriorate prematurely, shortening its service life.
  • Additionally, the atmosphere is polluted with gases from incomplete combustion.

Variable Power Burners

This problem (inefficiency at low production levels) is solved by using variable power burners.

  • In these burners, fuel is atomized at constant pressure, regardless of power variation.
  • When reducing power for lower production, fuel pressure does not drop, so atomization remains efficient and no unburned microdroplets are formed.
  • Since 2014, Triaso includes variable power burners as standard in all its drum models, at no additional cost.
  • These Triaso burners maintain high efficiency across a wide range, from 100% down to 30% of their capacity.
  • Some variable burners from other brands are only efficient between 100% and 90%, not at lower capacities.
